Representative Randy Fischer is serving his third term in the Colorado General Assembly where he represents House District 53.  His district includes most of the west side of Fort Collins, including the main campus of Colorado State University and the Larimer campus of Front Range Community College.   Rep. Fischer is the ranking member on the House Agriculture, Livestock, and Natural Resources Committee.   He also serves as a member of the House Transportation Committee.   Rep. Fischer participates in several interim committees, including the Water Resources Review Committee and the Transportation Legislative Review Committee. 

 

He earned a BS degree in Natural Resources Management from Colorado State University in 1976.  He went on to receive a Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, also from CSU.  For the past 20 years, Rep. Fischer has worked as a consulting engineer specializing in the reclamation and remediation of abandoned mine sites throughout the U.S. and around the world. 

 

During his 5 years in the legislature, Rep. Fischer has focused on issues related to the long-term sustainability of Colorado’s economy and environment, such as water supply and water quality, natural resource conservation, renewable energy, and an efficient 21st-century multimodal transportation system.  He has also championed educational issues, including early childhood, K-12, and higher education.
